Ostrau Palace: Built in the early 18th century in late baroque style on the foundation of a medieval castle, the former palace of the park owners, family von Veltheim, now embodies one of the most considerable baroque buildings in Saxony Anhalt.

The library of the castle has a very special charm since it was renovated. Now it attracts people with a variety of events.

A loop road, which is 2 kilometres long, leads the visitor through the palatial park, which is surrounded by moats and ponds. The park was constructed as a baroque garden about 1700 and 60 years later it was changed into a pleasure forest and impresses still today with an abundance of seldom trees and bushes. Later this wood population was enlarged with particular foreign exemplars, which the Veltheims discovered on their journeys and brought with them. Thus, the visitors can gaze at many extraordinary grown, mystic and beautiful woods from North America, China, South Sweden or the Caucasus.

Droves of watchers travel to Ostrau in February and March because of the winter aconite and enjoy the bright yellow carpets, which are formed by this little spring flower. The municipality of Ostrau and many ambitious citizens are looking forward to reconstruct the palatial park in the following years and fill it with life.
