The Unstrut finds clearly and charming its way through the landscape. Before it flows into the river Saale near Großjena it has covered a way of about 190 km from the spring at Kefferhausen in the Eichsfeld. The idyllic cycle path follows the river Unstrut through the Saale-Unstrut-area for about 42 km. The path gets very picturesque near Memleben where the Unstrut narrows and flows underneath the terraced vineyards of the most northern wine growing region in Germany. Many small pubs invite you to rest and try some wine. Passing Vitzenburg, Nebra, Karsdorf and Laucha you reach the secret regional `wine capital` Freyburg. The Unstrut-cycling path meets the Saale-cycling path near
Naumburg.
