Höhnstedt is located about 5 km west of the city limits of Halle (Saale).

The Höhnstedter wine-growing area (Großlage) belongs to the Mansfelder Seen area and thus to the northernmost wine-growing area of Germany, the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing area. in a document of Otto II (22nd October 973), which seals an exchange contract between the archbishopric of Magdeburg and an abbey in Fulda, the region

The Höhnstedter wine-growing area (Großlage) belongs to the Mansfelder Seen area and thus to the northernmost wine-growing region of Germany, the Saale-Unstrut.

Already in a document of Otto II (October 22, 973), which seals an exchange contract between the archbishopric of Magdeburg and an abbey in Fulda vineisthat is, vineyards or gardens. Later, a large number of wine-growing huts were built, which characterise the image of the vineyards. On almost 70 hectares, wine was cultivated in Höhnstedt in 2017. There are about 160 vineyard huts. In 2003 the wine road Mansfelder Seen (Zappendorf-Unterrißdorf) was founded, which leads along 24 sights on a length of 21 km.
