In the Deuben Mining Museum, on an area of over 600 m², you can learn a lot about the Zeitz-Weissenfels lignite mining district from its beginnings in the early 19th century to the present day.

Models, diagrams and objects illustrate the geological conditions, the development of mining methods, the refinement of coal and, last but not least, the lives of the people in the mining area. Miniature open-cast mining equipment, historical maps, mine models, large-format photos and much more tell a great deal of district history. The effects of mining and its consequences are also illuminated and the memory of the villages in the region, which have been dredged over by mining, is kept alive.
Furniture and utensils from earlier days and a former classroom complete the excursion into the past. The highlight is the true-to-original replica of the walk-in underground tunnel in the basement of the museum - here history comes alive!
