You are cordially invited to a journey through the thousand-year-old history of Schönburg.

The Schönburg was built by the Thuringian count Ludwig the Springer. According to legend, he had the castle built out of love for Adelheid, the wife of the Wettin Count Palatine, who lived on the opposite bank of the river in Goseck Castle. What became of the love between Ludwig and Adelheid, you best ask during a guided tour.the construction of the former bishop's castle Schönburg goes back to the 12th century.
