Description:

High up

The tower of the Naumburg Bürgerkirche St. Wenzel has been part of the city's possessions since ancient times, as the church tower was also the city's most important watchtower. The tower keepers had the task of ringing the bells and looking for fire day and night - in times of war also for enemy troops. Renovated from 1991 to 2001, it was handed back to the public in May 2001
High up

The tower of the Naumburg Bürgerkirche St. Wenzel has been part of the city's possessions since ancient times, as the church tower was also the city's most important watchtower. The tower keepers had the task of ringing the bells and looking for fire day and night - in times of war also for enemy troops. Renovated from 1991 to 2001, it was reopened to the public in May 2001. 202 steps lead up to the tower - whereby both the mechanical clockwork and the belfry with the triple chime of 1518 offer welcome interruptions during the ascent. The tower keeper's apartment and the lantern above it offer a magnificent view over the old town of Naumburg. Exhibition panels inform about the life and tasks of the former tower keepers of the Naumburg town church St. Wenceslas.
