Below the visitor centre Arche Nebra the hike starts counterclockwise, the path is lined by field and forest.

Through a deciduous forest you reach a striking observation tower. With a height of 30 m and an inclination of 10°, it functions as the pointer of an oversized sundial. A vertical section divides the structure and marks the visual axis to the Brocken: Here the sun set at the summer solstice, the sky disc could be placed and used as a solar calendar.
The view allows a view to the Kyffhäuser, in favourable weather conditions even the Brocken is visible.
The grounds on the Mittelberg have been carefully landscaped: You look into the Celestial Eye and can discover more find spots.

Through a deciduous forest you hike back in the direction of Arche Nebra. A refuge with a view of the observation tower invites you to take a break. Oaks flank the hiking trail like sentinels. A branch off the trail leads to Memleben, a town steeped in history with the Memleben Monastery and Imperial Palace Museum. The Unstrut meanders glitteringly through the valley.

Finally you reach the "golden sun barque". The planetarium in the Nebra Ark shows you the starry sky of the Bronze Age.
