On cobblestones you will explore the historically significant wine growing region in the Saale-Unstrut area.
Everywhere you go you will find something worth looking at and which will give you pleasure. You only have to search for it, absorb it, then you will return home enriched.
Our hiking suggestion leads you from Bad Sulza via Bad Kösen, Naumburg, Freyburg, Laucha, Nebra to Memleben (or Wohlmirstedt).

1st day
Your hike in the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region begins in Bad Sulza.
You can arrive comfortably by train or by car.
The small town of Bad Sulza lies picturesquely embedded in a valley on the lower reaches of the Ilm. You will start your hike at the Thuringian Wine Gate.
You hike via Großheringen to Kaatschen to the Zahn winery, along the Saale cycle path to Kleinheringen and on to the most famous castle among the Saale castles - the Rudelsburg. Enjoy the fantastic view of the Saale valley. Today you will stay overnight in Bad Kösen.
Distance approx. 15 km
Winemakers and others: Trip to the Thuringian winery Sonnenburg, Bad Sulza and Thuringian winery Zahn in Kaatschen-Weichau

Day 2
Bad Kösen presents itself as diverse and varied - nature, history and culture come together. In the Romanesque House, the oldest secular building in Central Germany, regularly changing exhibitions are shown as well as the development of Bad Kösen from a raft village to a brine bath. You can taste the Saale-Unstrut wine at the Landesweingut Kloster Pforta or at a private winegrower. On the Saale-cycle path you walk to the bottom of the blossoms. In Naumburg, the destination of today's hike, you should definitely visit the world-famous landmark of Naumburg, the late Romanesque-early Gothic cathedral St. Peter and Paul (Unesco World Heritage Site)
to pay a visit.
Distance approx. 15 km
Winemakers and others: Landesweingut Kloster Pforta in Bad Kösen, Weingut Lützkendorf in Bad Kösen, side trip to Weingut Frölich-Hake in Naumburg OT Roßbach, Weingut Herzer in Naumburg OT Roßbach, Weingut Hey Naumburg-Weinberge

Day 3
From Naumburg, the hike leads you towards Blütengrund, past the Steinernes Bilderbuch and the Max Klinger vineyard to the wine capital of Freyburg. Surrounded by vineyards, gentle hills and forests lies the romantic little town, which is also home to the Rotkäppchen sparkling wine cellars.
You should visit the legendary Neuchâtel before your next hike.
Distance approx. 10 km
Winemakers and others: Gussek Winery (side trip) in Naumburg Rotkäppchen Sektkellerei Freyburg, Winzervereinigung Freyburg-Unstrut eG, Deckert Winery Freyburg, Pawis Zscheiplitz Winery, Neuchâtel Castle Wine Museum Freyburg

Day 4
Laucha is the destination of today's hike. The village Zscheiplitz is situated on a mountain ledge, from here you have one of the most beautiful views into the lower Unstrut valley.
In Zscheiplitz and Weischütz the winegrowers are looking forward to your coming and will serve you with the delicious wine. Laucha lies in a wide valley basin, embedded in meadows and orchards, between the foothills of the Finne and the Querfurt plateau. On the slopes of the shell limestone mountains grows a grape that ripens mildly in the warm sun.
Distance approx. 10 km
Winemakers and others: Winery Pawis in Zscheiplitz, Winery Köhler Wölbling

Day 5
Before you hike to Nebra today, we recommend a visit to the Bell Museum in Laucha.
Burgscheidungen Castle is enthroned on a hilltop cone in the middle of the great Unstrutschleife.
Nebra is situated on the right bank of the Unstrut River on a rocky slope that belongs to the foothills of the Finn.
distance approx. 15 - 20 km
Winemakers and others: Boys wine bar at the Unstrutradwanderweg between Dorndorf and Burgscheidungen, Beyer winery in Dorndorf

Day 6
On the last day you will hike to Memleben. This place has a special "wine historical" meaning. For example, a document from Emperor Otto III - it concerns a donation of seven villages to the Memleben Monastery - testifies to the great role that viticulture has played in this area for 1000 years. You can enjoy the wine at the winery.
You can spend the night in Memleben or Wohlmirstedt.
