At a time when GDR citizens could hardly take a trip to Western countries, a young family unexpectedly gets the chance to go to Mexico for the Carl Zeiss Jena company. Marlis Stiebich accompanied her husband, the foreign trade employee, as "accompanying wife" - that is the status in her passport. Based on her notes and letters from this time of departure into an unknown world, the book traces the family's life passionately and deeply. The author open-heartedly describes foreign circumstances and indescribable experiences, which she compares with her own experiences in her own country, and thus finds herself caught between dream, hope and the unsparing reality.

The reading takes place in a cosy atmosphere
