Description:
The music festival takes place in the Heinrich Schütz House, the Castle Church and the Church of St Mary.
Every year in October, the Heinrich Schütz Music Festival focuses on the works of the early Baroque master and his contemporaries in a multifaceted programme.
The female singers, instrumentalists and composers of the 17th century are much less present and audible today than the masters of this period. The 2024 music festival is therefore particularly looking for traces

Every year in October, the Heinrich Schütz Music Festival focuses on the works of the early Baroque master and his contemporaries in a multifaceted programme.
The female singers, instrumentalists and composers of the 17th century are much less present and audible today than the men of that time. In 2024, the music festival will therefore be looking in particular for traces of female art and music promotion, while also focussing on contemporary female artists.
As artist in residence, the vocal ensemble Ælbgut will approach this theme with diversity and artistic mastery. In addition to the music of Sagittarius, the residence concerts in Weißenfels and the other Musikfest venues will include works by his pupil Duchess Sophie Elisabeth von Braunschweig-Lüneburg and songs based on texts by Gertraud Möller.
Also invited to the music festival are Cantus Thuringiae & Capella, Sjaella, Hille Perl, Friederike Otto and Nora Thiele, La Venexiana, Hirundo Maris and Sarah Lesch & Marthe Perl, among others
