"Lebenszeit", "Verdammt", "Als ich fortging" - songs that every German knows and can sing along to who watched TV, listened to the radio, put on records or went to the disco in the 70s and 80s between Kap Arkona and Rennsteig. Perhaps also many a West German who happened to hear an East German radio station near the border or on the transit motorway.
There are songs that stay and trigger memories in us whenever we hear them. They may disappear from our memory for a while, but they are never completely erased. Sometimes we go a long way without them, lose them after school, training, after the first love disappointment, after marriage and having children again from the head - but they remain.
They sometimes bring themselves to mind in the most insane situations. But the most beautiful thing is when they are remembered by people who, like these songs, are part of our lives.
Without a doubt, Inka Bause is one of them. In the East, everyone knows her as "our Inka", who mixed up the pop industry at 16 with the saucy "Spielverderber", becoming the idol of a generation. Her first songs came from her dad Arndt Bause, the most successful GDR hit composer at the time, who reliably provided almost all the stars with hits.
Inka achieved a meteoric career at the latest as the host of the RTL show "Bauer sucht Frau" - she is now one of the best-known and most popular TV faces in Germany. She never gave up her great love of music, gave herself her first big tour of her own for her 50th birthday two years ago: "Lebenslieder" - and was surprised by how people reacted at her concerts: singing along, crying, laughing.... Like a big family remembering their common life journey.
Now there is finally the album "Lebenslieder": A dream that Inka fulfilled herself and her fans. Especially for this she founded her own record label and acted as co-producer. She worked again with her great producer team from Musicago. Searched and found the right musicians, graphic designers, photographers for her project. All with a strong support, which a "young label boss" needs - the team of the record company of her last album "Mit offenen Armen" Electrola/Universal, with whom her album is now distributed. The result is probably Inka's most personal album. "They are the songs of an important period - my childhood and youth. The time that should be the most beautiful time of everyone's life. For me it was," says Inka. But why make new the songs of this time, which sounded in her for decades in their original versions by Karat, the Puhdys, Karussell, IC Falkenberg? Because everyone knows that: original remains original!
"Because I want to make them my songs and maybe the life songs of a new generation," answers Inka. She tried to bring them into today's time and to dust them off a bit without removing too much patina. That this works well is proven by the first singles ("Weißes Boot", "Zeit, die nie vergeht"), which have been running successfully nationwide on radio and TV for months! Eleven hits on one album plus the new title song "Lebenslieder" - such an essence is rare.
In the 30th year of German unity, it would be desirable for all of us that these "life songs" of the East Germans finally reach everywhere in Germany and become the songs of a country.
