In 1976, Wolf Biermann was expatriated - against all legal norms. The expatriation triggered an unexpectedly large protest movement in East and West. He returns to Hamburg.
Wolf Biermann has been awarded all the major German literary prizes. His volumes of poetry are among the best-selling in post-war German literature. He gives concerts in many countries around the world and is known for his sharp-tongued essays with which he intervenes provocatively in the politics of the day. Wolf Biermann's works have been published in many European languages (in Sweden, France, Spain, England, Italy, Slovenia, Denmark, Poland, Holland, Bulgaria, Portugal, Russia), as well as in the USA, South Korea, Japan and Israel.
