Directly behind the west choir is the garden area of almost one hectare. Picturesque ponds, flowering nature and the gardens of the former canons' houses unite between medieval walls and bastions. Part of the park with its many trees is the "Garden of the Naumburg Master". Native plants of the Saale-Unstrut region are effectively presented here. They served the creator of the west choir and west rood screen in the 13th century as a model for the approximately 200 botanically precisely determinable filigree foliage works on the capitals, friezes and keystones.
