Novalis is considered the most important early Romantic. However, he was above all a scientist and jurist and was able to unite art and technology. His poetic and philosophical approach was holistic. In his most important poems, Heinrich von Ofterdingen, Die Lehrlinge zu Sais and the Hymnen an die Nacht (Hymns to the Night), he attempts to establish this new intellectual current and, above all, to refer to the transcendence in natural phenomena.
Based on these impulses, seven artists have taken up various thematic aspects of the poet from different perspectives. In a wide variety of genres, from ceramics to graphic art to stained glass, they give their thoughts a visual form of expression.
