Shooting stars come in August
The meteor stream of the Perseids lights up the night sky in August: with up to 150 shooting stars per hour, you may be able to fulfil your wishes! But instead of just lying in the grass gazing up at the sky, you can make the Perseids an especially magical experience.
From Celestial Eye to Sky Disc
Take a look at the Celestial Eye and watch the shooting star shower from a perspective with thousands of years of history. In this precious moment, all worries evaporate and time stands still!
The Celestial Eye is an art installation on the very spot where in 1999 the 3600-year-old mystical Nebra Sky Disc was found. It shows us a representation of the sky from the Bronze Age. Early people used it to plan sowing and harvesting times, for example.
Nebra Ark Visitor Centre
In graceful architecture, the Nebra Ark Visitor Centre, 3 kilometres away, presents the amazing findings and astronomical skills of the Bronze Age. Inside the golden sun barque, the journey of exploration continues - an exciting excursion for all ages and interests!
The permanent exhibition naturally revolves around the unique sky disc... but without its presence, because the original is located in the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle. In addition, until 30 September 2022, the special show "Stargazer - From the Sky Disk to the Rosetta Mission" and the fascinating show in the Planetarium await you.
