Matthias Hey completed his studies in 2008 at the renowned Geisenheim College of Viticulture with distinction.
The parents Reinhard and Sigrun Hey laid the foundation stone for today's winery in 2001 with the purchase of a small plot of land in the "Naumburger Steinmeister" location. Their son Matthias Hey finally returned to the tranquil Naumburg in 2008 after studying viticulture at the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences and in Friuli. In the meantime, the Hey family cultivates a total of 6.5 hectares of vineyards, exclusively on steep slopes. If you visit the Heys in their winery, you can feel and taste the great enthusiasm with which wine is produced here. On weekends from May to October, wine lovers can also enjoy small dishes in the cosy Straußwirtschaft with a view of the vineyard.
Since 2018, Weingut Hey has been a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wineries).
Besides wine, culture and culinary delights are also very important. Throughout the year, the winery organises musical evenings ranging from jazz to classical and folk music, readings, summer theatre and culinary wine evenings.
