A shady forest path above the city

The hike begins in the old town of Mücheln. The houses and the town hall built in late Renaissance style are testimony to prosperity and civic pride.
Along the rippling Geisel you reach a narrow path that leads you uphill into the semi-shade of the deciduous forest - you are greeted by peace and rewarded with a view of the moated castle of Ortisei.
At the idyllic Geiselquelle - which is shaded by old trees - you can refresh tired feet. Continue on to the St. Ulrich Landscape Park. The romantic park with its partly very rare tree and shrub species, its "resting niches" and the view to the baroque garden is one of the highlights of the hike.
At the viaduct you can take a look at the recreational paradise par excellence - the Geiseltalsee - before heading back to the city centre.
Tip: The hike can be supplemented in many ways. Combinations with the Mühlenwanderweg and the Rundweg Müchelholz are possible, as is a circular route around the Geiseltalsee.
