On 15 May, the Family Day is called: "The Bishop's festive clothes".
Magnificent pieces of the Merseburg Cathedral treasure have returned to Merseburg Cathedral for the consecration anniversary in 2021, including beautifully decorated mitres, the caps of the medieval bishops. On FamilyDay we will go in search of traces of the bishops in Merseburg Cathedral. Dressed up like a bishop and his court, we will explore the cathedral, find out what tasks a bishop actually had to perform and also visit the returned treasures in the chapter house. Afterwards, the children can make their own bishop's hat and decorate it with all kinds of gold and precious stones.
We recommend pre-registration via our visitor service.
